KARIM RASHID

Karim Rashid was born in 1960 in Cairo. At a young age he moves to Canada where he graduates in 1982 in Industrial Design at the Carleton University of Ottawa.
He continues his design studies in Italy, in Naples under Ettore Sottsass and in Milan at the Industrial Design studio.
Back to Canada, he collaborates in Toronto with KAN Industrial Designers and founds the Babel Inc. and North Studio (1985-91). In 1983 he opens his own practice in New York.
Thus far he is one of the most prolific designers of his generation with over 3000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 35 countries.
